The Right Way to Store Perfumes
Perfumes tend to have a very long shelf life but they often lose their essence before the expiration date arrives. Haven’t you ever discarded an expensive perfume before its expiry date only because it stopped emitting any aroma?
This usually happens when you store them incorrectly. Keeping the perfumes in a proper place and a proper way will not only make it last longer but it also pushes the shelf life way farther. Storing perfumes the right way is not rocket science but there are a few tips that you need to follow.
- There always arises a common problem with Ladies Perfumes. Women have a habit of showcasing the gorgeous perfume bottles on their open dresser. Perfumes if kept in the dark stay good and healthy. It is advised to keep perfumes away from sunlight. Storing them inside the drawers or closets is recommended.
Note: Opaque bottles do not absorb light and can be displayed but only if you are hell bent on decorating your dresser with perfume bottles.
- Perfumes cannot withstand extreme temperatures. You should avoid keeping them in places that are either too hot or too cold. Your kitchen and bathroom tend to get too hot and these are the places in your house where perfumes should never be stored.
Note: You can occasionally keep perfumes in the refrigerator (only if the temperature is controlled)
- Humid areas are a complete NO for storing perfumes. Your bathroom is the most humid place in the entire house. Storing perfumes in the bathroom closet is never recommended. Any room with a dehumidifier is the best place to keep your fragrance bottles.
- The closet in your bedroom is perhaps the best place to store all your aromatic buddies but you have to make sure that the closet isn’t near a window.
- One of the best ways to keep your perfumes safe is to store them in a box and keep them secured. The box acts as an additional shield and protects the fragrances from heat as well as light. You can also use the packaged boxes that you get when you buy ladies perfumes online in India.
Note: Beautiful and decorative boxes can be used for this purpose. They will also add to the beauty of your closet.
- Perfumes stored in their original bottle (the one that it came in) last longer than the ones transferred to another bottle. A slight exposure to air breaks the molecules and damages it.
- With that being said you should alternately have this in mind that carrying perfume bottles while on the go can lead to them getting spoiled. You should buy travel containers for that purpose. Transfer a small amount of perfume into the travel container and prevent the entire bottle from getting damaged.
Note: Transfer the perfume quickly so that it does not get exposed to air for a very long time.
